GIFT offers something for everyone in terms of making new connections, finding support and social activities. We humans don't thrive when isolated, and neither do our brains. Studies show that the more connected we are, the more likely it is that we will have a good perception, memory and judgment. Additionally we can gain a sense of belonging and purpose, cope better with stress, gain self-confidence and self-worth - all of which can lead to better lifestyle choices and improved health and wellbeing.

Many adults find it hard to develop new friendships or keep up existing ones. Longstanding friendships may take a back seat to other priorities, such as work or caring for family. You and your friends may have grown apart due to changes in your lives or interests. Or maybe you've moved to a new community or have experienced a loss of any type. This could be someone you love, a pet, a job, or equally be the loss of independence due to declining health and/or mobility or loss of driving licence. Any change can impact our motivation or ability to stay connected with friends.

We understand that developing and maintaining good friendships can be difficult when you find your life has changed; GIFT offers everyone opportunities to reconnect. Think "quality not quantity."

GIFT provides opportunities for you to build your own support system; promoting friendships, inclusion and, ultimately, your health and wellbeing:
